Blackberry Curve 8520 (Gemini) merupakan smartphone low-end yang diproduksi oleh Research In Motion (RIM). Dilihat sekilas, Gemini mirip dengan model blackberry curve sebelumnya – semisal blackberry curve 8900. Berbeda dengan Curve 8900, blackberry Curve 8250 tidak dilengkapi dengan rollerball untuk navigasi namun menggunakan optical trackpad.

Perbedaan lain adalah blackberry curve 8520 tidak menggunakan cover berbahan metal. Sebagai gantinya, curve 8520 menggunakan penutup berbahan plastik. Bagian depan Blackberry Curve 8520 ditempati oleh layar 2.46 inch dengan resolusi 320 x 240 pixel. Di bawah layar terdapat tombol Call/End, optical pad untuk navigasi serta QWERTY keypad. Tombol kontrol untuk pengaturan volume, kamera dan kontrol suara terletak pada sisi samping.

Curve 8520 dilengkapi dengan prosesor dengan clock speed 512 MHz, 256 MB internal memory dan Micro SD slot yang dapat diexpand hingga 16 GB. Sebagai ponsel kelas low-end, curve 8520 tidak menyertakan dukungan 3G/HSDPA. Untuk menjaga harga tetap rendah, GPS juga turut dihilangkan pada model ini sehingga anda tidak dapat menggunakan blackberry ini sebagai perangkat navigasi.

What is RouterOS?
MikroTik RouterOS is the operating system of MikroTik RouterBOARD hardware. It can also be installed on a PC and will turn it into a router with all the necessary features – routing, firewall, bandwidth management, wireless access point, backhaul link, hotspot gateway, VPN server and more.
RouterOS is a stand-alone operating system based on the Linux v2.6 kernel, and our goal here at MikroTik is to provide all these features with a quick and simple installation and an easy to use interface.
You can try RouterOS today, go to www.mikrotik.com and download the installation CD image. The free trial provides all of the features with no limitations. In the following pages you will find examples of some of the most important RouterOS features.
Configuration
RouterOS supports various methods of configuration – local access with keyboard and monitor, serial console with a terminal application, Telnet and secure SSH access over networks, a custom GUI configuration tool called Winbox, a simple Web based configuration interface and an API programming interface for building your own control application. In case there is no local access, and there is a problem with IP level communications, RouterOS also supports a MAC level based connection with the custom made Mac-Telnet and Winbox tools.

Firewall
The firewall implements packet filtering and thereby provides security functions, that are used to manage data flow to, from and through the router. Along with the Network Address Translation it serves for preventing unauthorized access to directly attached networks and the router itself as well as a filter for outgoing traffic.
RouterOS features a stateful firewall, which means that is performs stateful packet inspection and keeps track of the state of network connections traveling across it. It also supports Source and Destionation NAT (Network Address Translation), NAT helpers for popular applications and UPnP.
The Firewall provides features to make use of internal connection, routing and packet marks. It can filter by IP address, address range, port, port range, IP protocol, DSCP and other parameters, also supports Static and Dynamic Address Lists, and can match packets by pattern in their content, specified in Regular Expressions, called Layer7 matching.
The RouterOS Firewall facility also supports IPv6.
Routing
RouterOS supports static routing and a multitude of dynamic routing protocols.
• For IPv4 it supports RIP v1 and v2, OSPF v2, BGP v4.
• For IPv6 it supports RIPng, OSPFv3 and BGP.
RouterOS also suppors Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF), Policy based routing, Interface based routing and ECMP routing. You can use the Firewall filter to mark specific connections with Routing marks, and then make the marked traffic use a different ISP.
Now with MPLS support added to RouterOS, VRF is also introduced. Virtual Routing and Forwarding is a technology that allows multiple instances of a routing table to co-exist within the same router at the same time. Because the routing instances are independent, the same or overlapping IP addresses can be used without conflicting with each other. VRF also increases network security. It is often used in, but not limited to MPLS networks.
MPLS
MPLS stands for MultiProtocol Label Switching. It can be used to replace IP outing – packet forwarding decision is no longer based on fields in IP header and routing table, but on labels that are attached to packet. This approach speeds up forwarding process because next hop lookup becomes very simple compared to routing lookup.
Efficency of forwarding process is the main benefit of MPLS. MPLS makes it easy to create “virtual links” between nodes on the network, regardless of the protocol of their encapsulated data.
It is a highly scalable, protocol agnostic, data-carrying mechanism. In an MPLS network, data packets are assigned labels. Packet-forwarding decisions are made solely on the contents of this label, without the need to examine the packet itself. This allows one to create end-to-end circuits across any type of transport medium, using any protocol.

VPN
To establish secure connections over open networks or the Internet, or connect remote locations with encrypted links, RouterOS supports various VPN methods and tunnel protocols:
• Ipsec – tunnel and transport mode, certificate or PSK, AH and ESP security protocols
• Point to point tunneling (OpenVPN, PPTP, PPPoE, L2TP)
• Advanced PPP features (MLPPP, BCP)
• Simple tunnels (IPIP, EoIP)
• 6to4 tunnel support (IPv6 over IPv4 network)
• VLAN – IEEE802.1q Virtual LAN support, Q-in-Q support
• MPLS based VPNs
This means that you can securely interconnect banking networks, use your workplace resources while travelling, connect to your home local network, or increase security of your wireless backbone link. You can even interconnect two branch office networks and they would be able to use each other’s resources, as if the computers would be in the same location – all secure and encrypted.

A variety of Wireless technologies are suppored in RouterOS, the most basic of them being the wireless access point and client. If it’s a small hotspot network in your home, or a city wide mesh network, RouterOS will help you in all situations.

HotSpot
The MikroTik HotSpot Gateway enables providing of public network access for clients using wireless or wired network connections. The user will be presented a login screen when first opening their web broswer. Once a login and password is provided, the user will be allowed internet access. This is ideal for hotel, school, airport, internet cafe or any other public place where administration doesn’t have control over the user computer. No software installatin or network configuration is needed, hotspot will direct any connection request to the login form.
Extensive user management is possible by making different user profiles, each of which can allow certain uptime, upload and download speed limitation, transfer amount limitation and more.

RouterOS features a MikroTik custom made proxy server for caching web resources, and speeding up customer browsing by delivering them cached file copies at local network speed. MikroTik RouterOS implements the following proxy server features:

• Access list by source, destination, URL and requested method (HTTP firewall)
• Cache access list to specify which objects to cache, and which not.

Install Apache Web Server on Ubuntu

Install Apache

Test it
Surf to your own server on your own local computer:

Find out how your server is found on the net. Anyone can use your IP address or DNS name to connect to your server:

If DNS is working on your network, you can see your fully qualified domain name with:

User homepages
With user homepages, anything you put in public_html in your home directory is published on the web.
Enabling Userdir on Server
For newer Ubuntu such as 8.04 Hardy, you have to explicitly enable userdir module. On older ones such as 6.06 LTS Dapper, userdir is enabled by default.
$ sudo a2enmod userdir
$ sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
Test homepages
Go to your home directory
$ cd
Create a folder for public html files, note the underscore ‘_’
$ mkdir public_html
Check your name
$ whoami
Surf to ~yourname:

You should see a directory listing of an empty directory. You can also try it using your IP address and a different machine.
If you see your homepage, well done. You have successfully installed a server with user homepages. You can create some web pages with OpenOffice and save them to your public_html directory.

Menghilangkan RecycleBin Pada Desktop XP

Bagi sebagian pengguna Windows, desktop yang terlalu banyak icon kurang begitu mereka sukai. Icon yang terlalu banayak akan membuat desktop berantakan dan akan memperlambat proses boot. Oleh karena itu, kadang-kadang icon program yang jarang kita gunakan akan kita hapus dari desktop dan hanya menyisakan beberapa icon program yang kita anggap sering kita gunakan.

Ketika kita ingin mengurangi jumlah icon desktop, kita tidak bisa menghilangkan icon Recycle Bin yang kita anggap kurang perlu di desktop kita. Karena pada saat kita klik kanan pada icon tersebut tidak terdapat menu Delete. Selain itu, pada desktop properties juga tidak terdapat pilihan untuk
menampilkan atau tidak icon Recycle Bin layaknya icon My Computer, My Documents atau icon My Network Places.

Berarti icon Recycle Bin memang tidak bisa dihilangkan dari desktop? Tidak. Masih ada cara kok untuk menghilangkan Icon Recycle Bin dari desktop. Ikuti saja langkah-langkah berikut:

Buka Registry Editor dengan mengklik menu Start => Run.

Ketik "regedit" (tanpa tanda kutip) pada Dialog Run yang muncul.

Pada jendela Registry Editor carilah key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace

Kemudian carilah key dengan nama {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}.

Setelah ketemu hapuslah key tersebut.

Sekarang kembalilah ke Desktop Anda. Klik kanan pada desktop dan klik menu Refresh atau dengan menekan tombol F5 pada keyboard. Icon Recycle Bin tidak tampak lagi pada Desktop Anda.

Backup terlebih dahulu key tersebut agar apablia nanti Anda ingin mengembalikan icon Recycle Bin pada desktop, Anda tinggal merestore backup tersebut. Cara melakukan backup adalah sebagai berikut:

Sebelum Anda menghapus key tadi klik kanan key tersebut dan klik menu Export.

Pada jendela Export Registry File berikan nama file sesuai dengan yang Anda inginkan. Misalnya RecycleBinKey dan click tombol Save. Secara otomatis nanti file tersebut akan diberi ekstensi .reg. Jadi file tersebut akan bernama RecycleBinKey.reg.

Nah file reg inilah yang merupakan backup dari key Recycle Bin pada registry. Untuk merestore kembali key tersebut, Anda cukup mengklik kanan file tersbut dan pilih merge. Maka icon Recycle Bin akan kembali pada desktop.

Rasa penasaran saya muncul ketika banyak forum security membicarakan tentang Metasploit.

Apakah itu metasploit ? Sulitkah menggunakannnya ? Saatnya membuka sedikit rahasia para Lamer (Hacker kelas teri) yang seringkali menyombongkan diri, padahal yang mereka lakukan hanyalah menggunakan tools yang dapat digunakan oleh anak SMP sekalipun.

Untuk memberikan gambaran dan mempermudah penjelasan, saya akan memberikan contoh bug pada service DCOM Windows yang dulu sangat populer dimanfaatkan oleh teman-teman SMA saya dengan exploit terpopuler saat itu : KAHT (dimana saya tidak tertarik hacking pada waktu itu) untuk menembus Server Lab sekolah - yang akhirnya ketahuan dan dimarahi guru Lab .Feeling saya sih mereka berusaha mengambil soal ulangan yang diketik di server, dasar anak bandel, hehehe….

Berikut alat-alat praktek yang kita butuhkan pada percobaan kali ini :

1. Sebuah PC yang cukup bertenaga untuk virtualisasi PC.

2. Metasploit Framework, dapat di download disini http://www.metasploit.com/

3. Microsoft Windows NT SP3-6a/2000/XP/2003 yang memiliki bug pada service DCOM.

4. Vmware, dapat di download disini https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?eval=workstation-w

Vmware disini digunakan untuk membuat virtualisasi jaringan komputer, sehingga memudahkan anda yang hanya memiliki 1 PC saja dirumah.

Saya akan melompati langkah-langkah menginstall VMware dan juga cara menginstall Windows di VMware, sebab apabila anda tidak mengerti hal tersebut, kemungkinan besar anda juga tidak akan paham yang kita bahas disini.

Sebagai permulaan kita akan memulai dengan mengenal lebih dekat Metasploit Framework. Pada situs pembuatnya dipaparkan secara gamblang tentang apa itu Metasploit framework, dan juga tujuan penggunaannya :

What is it?

The Metasploit Framework is a development platform for creating security tools and exploits. The framework is used by network security professionals to perform penetration tests, system administrators to verify patch installations, product vendors to perform regression testing, and security researchers world-wide. The framework is written in the Ruby programming language and includes components written in C and assembler.
What does it do?

The framework consists of tools, libraries, modules, and user interfaces. The basic function of the framework is a module launcher, allowing the user to configure an exploit module and launch it at a target system. If the exploit succeeds, the payload is executed on the target and the user is provided with a shell to interact with the payload.

Semuanya saya biarkan tertulis dalam bahasa orang bule sebab ada kata-kata yang tidak pas atau tidak bisa dipadankan bila diterjemahkan dalam Bahasa Indonesia.

Selanjutnya untuk lebih jauh tentang exploit maupun bug pada DCOM service dapat anda search sendiri di google, sebab terlalu panjang jika saya jelaskan disini.

Sekarang mari kita ngoprek komputer !
Langkah pertama adalah download Vmware dari situsnya, lalu anda dapat mulai menginstall Windows yang memiliki bug DCOM, kemudian jalankan windows anda di VMware !

Langkah kedua adalah download Metasploit Framework dari situsnya. Lalu install dikomputer anda dan jalankan, hingga keluar tampilan seperti berikut :

Kemudian pada kotak search ketikan dcom, lalu klik Find, dan pilihlah Exploits Microsoft RPC DCOM Interface Overflow.

Setelah itu kita memilih target yang akan kita exploitasi, dalam kasus kali ini Sistem Operasi target kita adalah Windows XP home, oleh karena itu pilihlah yang sesuai, lalu klik Forward :

Kemudian kita dihadapkan pada pilihan payload. Payload adalah sebuah aksi yang dilakukan setelah bug berhasil di exploitasi oleh Metasploit. Untuk pembelajaran, kita pilih Generic/Shell_Bind_TCP , artinya kita akan mengambil alih Shell Bind atau lebih dikenal di lingkungan windows dengan Command Prompt dari target hacking kita. Setelah itu klik Forward.

Langkah berikutnya kita harus menentukan Target Address kita, disini saya telah mengkonfigurasi Windows XP Home di Vmware dengan IP 192.168.126.132, oleh karena itu tuliskan ip tersebut pada kolom RHOST. Sedangkan RPORT disini sudah ditentukan yaitu port 135 yang merupakan port default dari service DCOM dimana secara default dibuka oleh Windows XP Home ! Wah, berbahaya sekali yah… Untuk LPORT disini juga sudah ditentukan yaitu 4444, Local Port akan membuka sebuah port di PC anda untuk berhubungan dengan komputer target. Selanjutnya klik Forward .

Setelah semua konfigurasi selesai, anda akan mendapatkan pesan konfirmasi seperti berikut, jika anda yakin semuanya telah benar,lanjutkan dengan klik Apply.

Jika target berhasil terexploitasi, anda akan mendapatkan sebuah session yang berisi target hacking kita dan siap untuk di double klik.

Kemudian anda akan mendapati sebuah layar Command Prompt dari komputer target dan anda sebagai Administrator. Jika sudah begini semua terserah anda, jangan tanyakan apa yang bisa dilakukan selanjutnya.Dan selesailah tutorial hacking kali ini Mudah bukan ?

Tips Mempercepat Proses Komputer Kita

Tidak ada salahnya menggunakan komputer apa adanya. Tentu saja, ada risikonya. Misalnya, komputer kian hari kian lambat. Padahal perawatan sudah dijalankan. Baik meng-update driver, menghapus file sampah, dan beragam perawatan rutin lain.

Atau mungkin komputer berjalan stabil, namun suara yang ditimbulkannya sangat mengganggu. Masalah burn CD kadang juga membuat jengkel. Apalagi misalnya, CD tersebut hendak digunakan pada audio di mobil.

Sebel memang jika PC tidak menuruti kemauan kita sebagai pemiliknya. Semua masalah yang mungkin timbul seperti di atas disebabkan PC yang liar. Seperti kuda dari padang rumput, sebelum digunakan harus dijinakkan terlebih dahulu. Agar kita terhindar dari ketidaknyamanan menungganginya.

Berikut ini akan dijelaskan bagaimana cara menanggulangi berbagai permasalahan saat menggunakan PC, baik di rumah maupun di tempat kerja. Kami juga menambahkan cara penyelamatan data e-mail. Selamat mencoba!.

1. Percepat Booting dan Ringankan beban CPU
Seiring dengan waktu, lama kelamaan PC terasa makin lambat dan ‘berat’. Apa saja yang dapat dilakukan untuk menanggulanginya?

* Langkah pertama mempercepat boot via BIOS. Untuk keterangan selengkapnya, Anda dapat melihatnya pada “Menguak Tabir BIOS” di PC Media 04/2004 yang lalu.
* Selanjutnya mulai ke area operating system. Untuk Windows XP, mulai dengan membuka System Configuration Utility. Pada tab BOOT.INI, beri tanda (P) pada “/NOGUIBOOT”. Ini akan mempersingkat waktu boot dengan menghilangkan Windows startup screen. Pada tab Startup, seleksi ulang seminimal mungkin item yang sangat dibutuhkan. Hal yang sama juga dilakukan pada service yang dijalankan. Usahakan jumlah service yang ter-load tidak lebih dari 25.
* Windows XP memang tampak begitu memukau pada tampilannya. Jika kebutuhan utama Anda adalah kecepatan dan bukan keindahan, setting ulang interface ini dapat menambah kecepatan. Masuk ke System Properties, pilih tab Advanced. Setting ulang pada pilihan Performance. Kemudian pilih “Adjust for Best Performance” pada tab Visual Effects.
* Menghilangkan wallpaper dan minimalisasi jumlah desktop icon juga dapat mempercepat PC Anda. Kurangi jumlah desktop icon sampai maksimal lima buah.
* Menghilangkan bunyi pada event Start Windows juga akan mempercepat proses boot. Mau lebih cepat lagi? Pilih “No Sounds” pada sound scheme.
* Berapa jumlah font yang terinstal pada Windows Anda? Makin banyak jumlah font yang terinstal akan menambah berat beban kerja PC Anda. Windows secara default menyertakan sejumlah kurang dari 100 font. Usahakan jumlah font yang terinstal pada kisaran 150 font.
* Anda rajin meng-update driver? Bagus. Namun tahukah Anda, file-file yang digunakan driver lama Anda dapat memperlambat PC. Cara paling mudah menggunakan utility tambahan seperti Driver Cleaner. Utility ini membersihkan driver nVidia dan ATI terdahulu. Driver Cleaner 3.0, juga dapat membersihkan driver lama beberapa chipset motherboard, sound card, dan lain-lain.

2. Overclock
Ini bagian yang paling menarik. Pada bagian ini kami akan memandu overclocking, dengan mengandalkan beberapa software yang bisa di-download gratis dari internet.

Overclock Video Card
Overclocking pada video card, relatif mudah apalagi dengan Powerstrip.

* Anda bisa menggunakan Powerstrip dengan men-download dari www.entechtaiwan.net.
* Atur konfigurasi dari Performace profile, dengan klik kanan di tray icon.
* Anda akan melihat dua buah vertical slider. Slider kiri, control untuk core speed video card. Slider kanan merupakan control dari kecepatan memory video card.
* Tambahkan core speed video card secara bertahap (maksimal 2 Mhz). Lakukan tes stabilitas dengan memainkan game 3D atau menjalankan benchmark. Ulangi hal tersebut sampai core speed maksimal dari video card. Lakukan hal yang sama untuk memory clock. Kini Anda bisa menikmati frame rates baru yang lebih cepat secara gratis.

Overclock Motheboard
Untuk melakukan overclock terhadap motherboard sedikit berbeda. Anda harus menyesuaikan aplikasi sesuai dengan chipset motherboard. Di sini kami mengambil contoh overclocking dua buah motherboard. Pertama adalah motherboard dengan chipset nForce2.

* Untuk motherboard dengan chipset nVidia, Anda bisa memanfaatkan aplikasi NV system utilities dari www.nvidia.com.
* Pada aplikasi ini, tinggal menggeser slider kearah kanan pada bagian Bus speeds. Ini akan menyesuaikan clock FSB juga memory bus. Untuk AGP bus, tersedia pada slider yang terpisah.
* Tersedia juga setting untuk memory control timing. Setting memory yang lebih agresif akan menguntungkan untuk sistem AMD.
* Sama seperti pada video card, Anda harus menambahkan secara bertahap FSB dan AGP bus. Jalankan tes stabilitas. Setelah selesai, Anda bisa mengakhiri dengan mengklik tombol (OK). Catatan: ketika OC yang Anda lakukan tidak sesuai, maka komputer akan otomatis hang dan terpaksa me-restart komputer.

Motherboard kedua adalah Intel D875PBZ. Menggunakan Intel Desktop Control Center, sayangnya utiliti ini hanya berjalan pada motherboard keluaran Intel.

* Untuk melakukan OC, Anda bisa melakukannya dengan otomatis.
* Bisa juga secara manual. Pada menu Tune yang terdapat di bagian atas, pilih option Burn-in, enable burn-in mode.
* Terdapat Host I/O mode dan AGP/PCI mode. Pada Host I/O mode, OC dilakukan berdasarkan persentase hingga 4 %. Sedangkan pada AGP/PCI mode, menaikkan bus clock AGP yang otomatis akan meningkatkan clock PCI.
* Setelah melakukan penambahan, Anda bisa mengukur stabilitas. Dengan melakukan stress-it pada bagian kiri bawah aplikasi yang bertanda centang.

3. Upgrade Processor
Sebelum membeli sebuah processor baru, pastikan bahwa motherboard yang Anda miliki mampu mendukung calon processor baru Anda (lihat tabel “Chipset dan Processor Support”). Selain itu, pastikan juga maksimum FSB untuk processor yang mampu didukung motherboard Anda. Hal ini juga berhubungan banyak dengan chipset yang digunakan pada motherboard Anda.

Sebagai contoh untuk processor Intel. Chipset Intel seri 845 hanya memiliki bus maksimal 533 MHz. Berbeda dengan chipset Intel 848 ataupun 875P yang sudah mampu bekerja dengan processor dengan bus 800 MHz.

Hal ini juga berlaku untuk processor AMD. Seperti VIA KT400 yang belum bisa bekerja dengan bus processor 400 MHz. Berbeda dengan KT600 yang sudah mampu bekerja pada bus processor 400 MHz.

Ada baiknya juga untuk memastikan produsen motherboard yang Anda gunakan menyediakan update BIOS pada situsnya. Terutama update BIOS untuk kecepatan processor yang terbaru. Update BIOS diperlukan sekiranya BIOS lama motherboard Anda belum mendukung (biasanya) multiplier processor terbaru.

4. Cara mudah Ripping CD
Walaupun Anda sudah menggunakan aplikasi dan metode yang lain sebagai andalan untuk melakukan ripping CD Audio, namun tidak ada salahnya mencoba alternatif lain. Siapa tahu hasilnya akan jauh lebih baik dari yang selama ini Anda lakukan. Lagipula, software yang kami tawarkan di sini dapat Anda gunakan secara gratis.

Jika Anda ingin memiliki kumpulan MP3 music dengan kualitas yang baik kami memberikan beberapa buah tip. Di mana kunci utamanya terletak pada tiga buah komponen, yaitu:

* Sebuah program ripping yang tidak akan mengizinkan ekstraksi yang buruk dihasilkan. Artinya Anda tidak perlu mencek ulang satu per satu file hasil ripping yang dihasilkan secara manual.
* MP3 encoder yang baik dan mampu menghasilkan data audio dengan kualitas yang baik dengan kompresi file audio yang juga baik.
* Proses audio ripping nya sendiri yang cukup mudah untuk dilakukan.

Dengan proses yang terbilang sederhana, Anda akan mampu melakukan proses ripping dengan menggunakan LAME encoder. Termasuk juga cara mengatur nama, nomor, dan tag dari semua track yang ada dengan mudah.

Download EAC dan LAME Encoder
Yang akan digunakan di sini adalah sebuah software yang cukup mengesankan. Yaitu Exact Audio Copy (EAC), download aplikasi tersebut pada www.exactaudiocopy.de.

Tidak seperti aplikasi ripping lainnya, EAC dapat melakukan pemeriksaan ulang terhadap setiap bit data dengan source data. Tujuannya untuk memperoleh tingkat akurasi tinggi yang mampu mendekati CD Audio aslinya. Jika aplikasi tersebut menemukan perbedaan, maka aplikasi tersebut akan melakukan ripping ulang dan sekali lagi jika diperlukan.

Tentunya hal tersebut akan memperlambat proses ripping itu sendiri. Tapi dengan melihat dari hasil yang didapat, hal tersebut bukan lagi sebuah masalah. Perlu diingat, proses ripping ulang hanya akan dilakukan jika terjadi perbedaan. Bisa disebabkan karena CD yang tergores, ataupun adanya copy protection pada CD yang bersangkutan.

Anda juga akan memerlukan LAME Encoder, di mana encoder tersebut telah dikenal cukup lama sebagai MP3 encoder terbaik yang pernah ada. Hingga saat ini versi terbarunya adalah Lame 3.95.1. Anda dapat men-download-nya di http://mitiok.cjb.net. Setelah Anda mendapatkan kedua aplikasi tersebut, lakukan proses Unzip dan simpan ke dalam satu folder yang sama. Hal ini dilakukan untuk memudahkan pencarian saat pertama kali menggunakan aplikasi EAC tersebut.

Konfigurasi EAC
Berikut ini hal-hal yang harus Anda perhatikan saat hendak menggunakan EAC. Hanya ada beberapa hal yang perlu dikonfigurasi ulang, namun penting untuk dilakukan.

1. Pada saat kali pertama menggunakan aplikasi, EAC akan melakukan proses initial drive test. Pilih Optimization untuk “accurate results”. Jika Anda memiliki lebih dari satu buah optical drive, maka EAC akan memilih drive yang terbaik sebagai drive default-nya. Tetapi Anda bisa saja mengubahnya. EAC juga akan melakukan konfigurasi LAME. EAC akan memulainya dengan mencoba mencari LAME pada drive Anda. Akan lebih mudah jika Anda memberikan letak folder dari LAME secara manual. Kemudian pilih “standard” untuk LAME setting. Terakhir pilihlah Expert interface option, di sinilah kekuatan EAC ini. Karena pada option inilah Anda dapat memaksimalkan kerja aplikasi tersebut.
2. Pilih EAC|EAC Options Menu|General dan berikan tanda centang (P) pada “On Unknown CDs”. Kemudian klik pada bagian “Automaticaly access online freedb database”, jika PC Anda terhubung dengan internet. Jika Anda bertanya untuk apa? Ini adalah untuk menyinkronisasikan data album CD (nama artis, judul album, dan judul lagu) dari database yang tersedia di Internet. 4. Pilih directories masih dari menu yang sama. Pilih pada bagian “Use this directory” dengan begitu EAC akan secara otomatis memasukkan hasil ekstrak ke dalam direktori yang telah Anda berikan tersebut.
5. Masuk pada menu EAC|Drive Options. Kemudian berikan tanda pada “Drive is capable of retrieving C2 error information”. Hal ini untuk lebih memaksimalkan kemampuan drive optik Anda untuk keperluan ripping ini. Biasanya secara default option ini sudah di-enable oleh EAC. Tetapi jika setelah melakukan ripping ternyata Anda menemui noise-noise yang terdengar dalam tempo yang konstan, disable option ini. Biasanya hal ini akan mengatasi masalah tersebut.
6. Masuk pada menu EAC|Compression Options menu. Pilih pada bagian External Compression dan pastikan LAME MP3 Encoder ditampilkan pada bagian “Parameter passing scheme”. Jika belum ditampilkan, lakukan pemilihan secara manual.
7. Masih pada menu yang sama, masuk pada bagian “Bit Rate” dan pilihlah Variable Bitrate menjadi 192 Kbps. Tetapi jika komputer Anda tidak mampu melakukan sampling hingga 192 Kbps, 128 Kbps kiranya sudah cukup baik.
8. Masuk pada bagian EAC|freedb options dan konfirmasikan alamat e-mail Anda. Tetapi sekali lagi, jika Anda tidak terhubung ke internet hal tersebut tidak perlu dilakukan.

Mulai Pengoperasian
Sekarang Anda sudah siap mengoperasikan EAC dan mulai melakukan proses ripping. Masukkan CD audio yang Anda miliki dan klik pada bagian MP3 yang terletak di sebelah kiri atas. Setelah selesai melakukan ripping, cobalah periksa hasil ripping. Apabila tidak terdengar apapun, berarti ada kesalahan, lakukan pemeriksaan terhadap setting yang telah ditentukan tadi. Jika ternyata setting-nya sudah benar, cobalah lakukan download ASPI layer yang bisa didapat dari ftp://ftp6.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll. Karena Anda tidak akan bisa melakukan ripping tanpa adanya ASPI layer dalam sistem komputer Anda. Letakkan file tersebut pada direktori yang sama dengan EAC dan LAME tadi. Ulangi proses ripping sekali lagi.

5. Burning CD dengan Sempurna
Untuk mendapatkan hasil burning CD yang sempurna bukan lah hal yang mudah. Di sini ada beberapa tip mudah untuk memperbaiki hasil burning CD.

* Saat burning CD audio, proses burning sebaiknya dilakukan pada maksimal kecepatan 24x. Jika CD ditujukan untuk disetel di CD player pada sistem car audio sebaiknya pada kecepatan maksimal 4x. Hal ini untuk menghindari masalah kompatibilitas dengan CD player dan sistem error correction yang terdapat pada CD audio (terutama untuk sistem car audio). Proses burning akan lebih lama, tapi hasilnya lebih terjamin.
* ‘Finalize’ CD hasil burning. Hal ini juga berkaitan dengan kompatibilitas untuk kebanyakan CD player.
* Gunakan media CD yang berkualitas. Salah satu caranya dengan mengandalkan media dari merk terkenal. Atau Anda dapat memilihnya dari review yang ada di media cetak maupun internet.
* Selalu gunakan mode Disc-at-Once (daripada Track-at-Once). Multisession punya tingat kompatibilitas yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan single session.
* Jika Anda membuat sebuah CD “mix”, pastikan untuk menormalkan level volume pada setiap track. Beberapa software burning menyediakan fasilitas ini. Atau Anda dapat melakukannya sendiri (dengan hasil yg lebih baik) menggunakan MP3Gain, yang bisa di-download di www.geocities.com/mp3gain.

6. Ssstttt…jangan berisik!
Suara lantunan MP3 koleksi Anda memang enak didengar. Mendengar deru mobil dari adegan pada film, desingan tembakan dari game pada PC Anda menambah seru suasana. Namun dengungan suara yang dihasilkan PC Anda, bukanlah hal yang menyenangkan untuk didengar. Apalagi jika Anda termasuk orang yang jarang mematikan PC, meskipun tertidur. Bisa-bisa mimpi Anda menjadi mimpi buruk didatangi lebah berukuran raksasa karena mendengar dengungan yang dibuat oleh PC Anda. Bagaimana cara memberantasnya? Komponen apa saja pada PC yang berisik?

Optimalkan pendingin PC Anda
Fan memang menjadi senjata utama kebanyakan PC untuk mengusir panas dari komponen. Namun, fan ini juga yang sekaligus menjadi biang kerok keributan yang menghasilkan dengungan konstan pada PC Anda. Coba hitung saja total fan yang terpasang pada PC Anda. Satu pada HSF (heatsink fan) processor, satu terintegrasi pada power supply. Belum lagi jika motherboard dilengkapi dengan HSF pada chipset, HSF GPU (graphic processor unit) pada video card. Anda yang mengutamakan kesejukan pada casing PC Anda kebanyakan menambahkan mulai dari 1 buah fan sampai dengan 2-4 fan tambahan untuk memastikan aliran udara pada casing. Belum lagi yang senang memanjakan harddsik (apalagi yang memiliki RPM tinggi), kadang menambahkan harddisk cooler yang artinya fan tambahan lagi.

Jika Anda sedang mencari fan tambahan, usahakan mencari fan yang berkualitas dengan tingkat kebisingan rendah. Fan yang baik tidak banyak menghasilkan getaran saat beroperasi. Fan berdiameter besar mempunyai kecenderungan menghasilkan tingkat kebisingan yang lebih rendah. Jadi jika casing Anda memungkinkan, pilih fan berukuran 120 mm daripada fan 80 mm.

Jika Anda terlanjur memiliki fan yang banyak, coba pastikan mana yang paling tepat guna untuk casing Anda. Caranya cukup mudah. Bermodalkan program monitoring hardware, seperti Motherboard Monitor. Utiliti ini memiliki tampilan display (yang disebut Dashboard) yang sangat mudah dibaca. Bahkan tersedia juga log hasil pembacaan dalam rentang waktu tertentu. Untuk memonitor suhu harddisk, bisa memanfaatkan HDD Thermometer 1.0.

Cari kombinasi fan yang paling tepat dengan tingkat pendinginan yang paling optimal. Coba jalankan PC dengan load penuh (sambil bermain game atau menjalankan aplikasi yang berat) selama tidak kurang dari 15 menit. Lihat suhu maksimal yang tercatat pada Motherboard Monitor. Bandingkan nilainya dengan kombinasi fan tambahan yang lain. Pilih yang mana menurut Anda paling baik antara jumlah fan dengan tingkat kebisingan yang dihasilkan, menyesuaikan dengan lingkungan sekitar. Jika ada fan yang tersisa, jadikan saja sebagai cadangan jika ada fan yang mengalami kerusakan.

Catatan dari kami: usah gelisah jika suhu processor Anda tidak pernah mencapai kisaran 50ºC.

Ngebut berarti maut berlaku di jalanan. Namun pada PC Anda, ngebut berarti tambahan kebisingan. Terutama untuk drive optik dan harddisk Anda. Tidak berarti Anda harus bertoleransi dengan lambatnya PC Anda. Hanya saja aturlah kecepatan PC Anda sesuai dengan kebutuhan.

Untuk drive optik, caranya cukup mudah. Cukup mengandalkan software Nero DriveSpeed 2.0. Atur kecepatan pada kisaran 24–32x. Anda bahkan dapat mengatur lama waktu sebelum drive optik Anda spin down. Saat membutuhkan kecepatan tinggi pada drive optik Anda, tinggal mengembalikan setting pada kecepatan maksimal. Hal ini akan dibutuhkan saat drive optik digunakan untuk proses ripping atau meng-copy file dari CD/DVD.

Begitu juga untuk harddisk Anda. Sayangnya, hal ini tidak berlaku di semua merk harddisk. Sebagai contoh, seperti untuk harddisk Maxtor dengan AMSET utilitinya, ataupun harddisk IBM-Hitachi dengan Feature Tool. Sesuaikan setting dengan tingkat kebisingan sesuai keinginan Anda.

Lain-lain
Suara berisik dari komputer Anda juga dapat terjadi karena getaran yang dihasilkan. Fan dengan kualitas yang buruk dapat menjadi salah satu penyebabnya. Usahakan untuk mendapatkan fan dengan getaran yang minimal. Sekrup yang tidak terpasang dengan baik juga menyebabkan suara getaran. Yang ini cukup dengan mengencangkan sekrup-sekrup yang terpasang pada PC Anda.

Watercooling
Jika Anda benar-benar muak dengan dengungan bising dari PC Anda, saatnya beralih ke alternatif pendinginan yang lain. Metode watercooling bisa dijadikan pilihan alternatif.

Teknik watercooling secara singkat dapat dianalogikan dengan pendinginan kendaraan bermotor menggunakan pendingin radiator. Watercooling memanfaatkan air untuk mendinginkan panas yang dihasilkan komponen PC, terutama processor. Biasanya terdiri dari tiga bagian utama, water block, copper radiator, dan water pump. Proses pendinginan air sebagai media pendinginan dilakukan pada copper radiator, sedangkan sirkulasi air memanfaatkan water pump. Water block ditempelkan ke processor untuk mengusir panas yang dihasilkan.

Keuntungannya, tingkat kebisingan yang dihasilkan sangat rendah. Fan pada radiator bekerja pada RPM yang tidak terlalu tinggi sehingga tidak bising. Water pump juga tidak bising, hal ini disebabkan karena memanfaatkan air untuk meredam suara yang dihasilkan. Solusi yang cocok untuk yang mencari CPU cooling yang efisien dengan tingkat kebisingan yang rendah.

Perlu diperhatikan adalah kemungkinan bocor yang dapat terjadi jika menggunakan metode watercooling ini. Selain itu, harganya yang masih relatif lebih mahal dibandingkan dengan HSF menjadikan metode pendinginan watercooling bukanlah pilihan untuk kebanyakan pengguna komputer.

7. Perbaiki Aliran Udara dalam Casing
Layaknya sebuah rumah, casing komputer membutuhkan sirkulasi udara yang baik. Tujuannya membantu agar udara di dalam casing tidak terlalu panas.

* Rapikan kabel dalam casing. Kabel berantakan akan menghambat aliran udara dalam casing. Mengikat, salah satu cara paling efektif untuk merapikan kabel. Gabungkan kabel dan ikat dengan plastik strap atau kawat pengikat. Usahakan tidak mengikatnya dengan karet gelang. Suhu panas casing akan membuat karet gelang mengalami deformasi plastik dan akhirnya putus.
* Untuk kabel IDE dan FDD yang bisa Anda lakukan adalah menggantinya dengan round cable. Kabel IDE round cable sedikit banyak memperkecil penampang hambatan udara dalam casing Anda. Tidak tertarik untuk membelinya? Anda bisa mengakali kabel IDE konvensional Anda dengan menggulung dan mengikatnya. Bisa dengan strap ataupun kawat pengikat.
* Untuk membuat fentilasi tambahan, bisa dengan moding casing. Sayangnya, hal ini kurang menarik bagi yang tidak hobi. Alternatif lain, Anda dapat membuka slot PCI yang masih tertutup.
* Tempatkan ekstra fan exhaust pada bagian teratas casing. Logikanya, udara panas akan selalu berada di bagian teratas, sehingga fan efektif untuk mengeluarkan udara panas yang terkurung dalam casing.

8. Cara mudah membersihkan PC
Mulai dengan mencabut semua kabel yang menempel ke komputer, seperti kabel power dan monitor.

* Letakkan casing di lantai dengan dilapisi oleh kain atau karpet.
* Buka penutup casing dan gunakan kompresor angin untuk menghilangkan debu yang menempel.
* Anda juga bisa menggunakan penyedot debu, untuk memaksimalkan pembersihan.
* Bersihkan bagian luar monitor, dengan menggunakan kain bersih. Untuk layar monitor, gunakan kain yang lembut. Jika Anda menggunakan cairan pembersih, sebaiknya disemprotkan ke kain.
* Sedot debu yang menempel di keyboard dengan penyedot debu yang dilengkapi sikat.
* Untuk mouse nonoptikal, lepaskan sekrup pada bagian bawah mouse dan keluarkan bolanya. Bersihkan kotoran yang menempel pada putaran dan bolanya.
* Bersihkan bagian luar casing dengan menggunakan kain lembut dan cairan pembersih.

9. Pasang Saringan udara di casing
Hal ini untuk menjaga kebersihan casing Anda. Tentunya Anda harus memperhatikan bahan yang digunakan karena jika bahan yang digunakan tidak baik, maka Anda akan mengalami permasalahan baru yaitu saluran udara yang tersumbat.

* Anda perlu memasangnya di bagian depan intake kipas. Anda boleh saja memasang saringan pada semua kipas. Namun yang diutamakan di sini adalah pemasangan filter pada kipas yang memberikan udara masuk, di mana debu biasanya ikut masuk.
* Alternatif bahan yang murah dan gampang didapat adalah busa motherboard. Bentuknya yang tipis dan lebar, ideal untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai air filter. Potong sesuai ukuran dan tempel dengan selotip ataupun doubletape.

10. Tidak ketinggalan Berita dengan RSS Aggregator
Ada program yang dikenal dengan sebutan RSS Aggregator. Program RSS aggregator sendiri merupakan sebuah aplikasi yang memungkinkan kita untuk melihat headline beserta link ke isi berita dari sebuah situs penyedia berita. Caranya cukup mudah.

* Gunakan RSS Aggregator. Misalnya, program i-System yang bisa diperoleh di www.feedreader.com.
* Tentukan sumber berita yang Anda inginkan. Misalnya dari Yahoo News atau Detik.Com. Namun, beberapa situs lokal cenderung memproteksi isi headline-nya. Secara default, i-System sudah menyediakan banyak link ke situs-situs yang menyediakan fasilitas RSS atau biasa disebut RSS feed. Klik icon New di toolbar. Setelah muncul sebuah kotak dialog alamat RSS, isilah dengan alamat situs sumber RSS pilihan Anda. Klik Next dan ikuti langkah-langkahnya.
* Feedreader secara otomatis akan memeriksa headline terbaru dan menampilkannya di desktop Anda. Anda juga bisa mengatur interval waktu,kapan feedreader harus memeriksa dan menampilkan headline terbaru atau refresh time. Namun, berdasarkan etika di dunia internet, ada batas waktu minimum untuk refresh RSS, yakni 90 menit.

11. Mem-back-up Data di Outlook
Betapa sedihnya jika data Outlook kita hilang begitu saja. Bisa karena Windows mengalami crash atau sebab lain di luar perkiraan sebelumnya. Untuk menanggulanginya, back-up semua folder di Outlook secara periodik. Ada beberapa tip yang perlu Anda pahami untuk mencegah data di Outlook hilang begitu saja.

* Back-up secara manual dengan menggunakan perintah Export di bawah menu File. Pilih option Export to File dari kotak dialog yang muncul. Kemudian pilih option Personal Folder File (.pst). Tentukan folder yang hendak di-back-up dan lokasi penyimpanannya sekalian. Kami sarankan untuk juga mem-back-up di CD.
* Anda juga bisa back-up data menggunakan Archive-nya Outlook. Caranya, pilih menu Tools, pilih Options. Pada kotak dialog yang terbuka, buka tab Other dan klik tombol AutoArchive. Tentukan lokasi penyimpanan yang baru dan klik OK. Pindahkan lokasi penyimpanan file-file di dalam Outlook untuk mencegah data ikut hilang bila operating system rusak. Lebih baik lagi jika tempat penyimpanannya terpisah dari partisi lokasi aslinya. Misalnya, di drive D atau selain drive C.
* Microsoft juga memiliki add-in gratis untuk back-up secara otomatis. Nama add-in ini adalah Personal Folders Backup yang bisa diperoleh

There isn't much time to relax when you live the life of a treasure hunter. The ever-imperiled Nathan Drake is at it again, traveling the globe, searching for a lost artifact, and trying not to get shot, all for the sake of his noble (saving humanity) and selfish (impressing a lady) ambitions. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves doesn't veer far from the great formula established by Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, but a few tweaks and a strong focus on details make this a better game in every way. Your journey once again becomes an incredible adventure, constantly thrusting new obstacles in front of you that not only offer variety, but are also an absolute blast to overcome. The stunning visuals bring these exotic locales to life, giving you a scenic tour of a tropical jungle, crumbling ice cave, and dilapidated city, among others, while making every new place feel unique and welcoming. The gameplay isn't perfect--the cover mechanic is too sticky in tight places and there's some inconsistency when it comes to climbing obstacles--but these small problems are largely inconsequential. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is an awesome game that continually surprises, impresses, and entertains.

Treasure hunter Nathan Drake is off on another adventure, chasing an ancient artifact that is rumored to hold mysterious powers. After being lured into his latest adventure by his smarmy friend Harry Flynn, he quickly realizes the ramifications of his latest discovery. He then begins a new quest to thwart an evil warlord from grabbing this sacred object for himself and growing all-powerful in the process. The plot contains a number of not-so-surprising twists, but it stays interesting throughout because Drake and the supporting cast are so realistic and likable. His motivations are pure, but Drake takes on the formidable task with a roguish smile and sarcastic comments, making him inherently likable and rather funny. The playful back-and-forth with his friends also sounds realistic. Depending on what the situation warrants, the characters toss casual insults or helpful advice, and the ease with which they converse brings a feeling of authenticity to the action. This crisp dialogue, along with the finely crafted cutscenes and well-developed characters, helps the narrative of Among Thieves shine, making it a strong part of this excellent adventure.

Drake doesn't take his duty as a world-class treasure hunter lightly. He is well equipped to tackle anything that comes his way, whether he's fighting well-armed mercenaries, making treacherous leaps across near-bottomless pits, or using his noggin to piece together ancient puzzles. Taking down hordes of nameless soldiers is incredible in Uncharted 2 because of the wealth of awesome weaponry and the smooth shooting mechanic. Your arsenal packs a mean punch, and it's sadistically satisfying to let loose a deafening point-blank blast from a pistole or knock a sniper off a ledge with a perfect shot from your rocket launcher. The grenades are easy to aim, making it a joy to lob one right at the feet of a chain gun-toting madman and watch him soar with arms flailing into the clear blue sky. If you get close to your enemies, Drake isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. You can quietly snap the neck of an unsuspecting foe if you can sneak behind him unnoticed, but even in a face-to-face brawl, the fisticuffs are impressive. Mashing on the square button delivers powerful haymakers, but you'll need to avoid and counter the retaliatory punches of your enemies to finish them off. These killing blows are over-the-top, displaying your surprising power in slow motion as your enemies crumple to the turf.

Given that Drake can't withstand a bullet barrage, cover plays a huge part in Uncharted 2. While stop-and-pop action has been seen in other shooters, the levels in Among Thieves are designed to take advantage of vertical space to give these tussles a more dynamic feel. In many of these set-piece battles, you have the choice to stand meekly behind cover, peppering enemies from afar when you can risk sticking your neck out for a second, or to dance away from the action, strategically positioning yourself right where your foes are most vulnerable. This maneuverability adds a feeling of controlled chaos to battles, letting you constantly change your strategy to adapt to the different tactics your enemies will use to bring you down. Unfortunately, the controls are less than precise in cramped corridors, making it difficult to smoothly slide from cover to cover without mistakenly exposing your vulnerable backside. It's a small complaint, but it can be frustrating during some of the more intense battles if you find yourself sitting in the open air when you meant to hide behind a nearby desk. Nevertheless, the combat is explosive and unpredictable in Uncharted, and the huge variety in the levels forces you to constantly change your strategy.

The competitive multiplayer is even better. The levels are once again modeled after the environments from the main quest, but your impressive agility in battle combined with the powerful weaponry make for explosive competitions. There are a number of gameplay types, which are variations on such popular formulas as Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Territories. But the sheer thrill of battle raises these beyond the forgettable squall of other shooters. Your agility is the main differentiating factor. It is simply incredible to spring away from your vicious buddy who is happily wielding a shotgun, leap across a gaping ravine, and grab on to a far-off ledge with just your fingertips. Frantically slamming on the X button to hoist yourself to safety while your opponent comes storming after you is a heart-racing experience, and turning the tables on your pursuer as he tries to make the same treacherous leap is so satisfying. There is also a perks system that gives you rewards beyond mere fun for sinking time into this endeavor. These rewards increase your killing power and make the mode even more fun.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a complete package. The perfectly paced campaign is pure joy from beginning to end, seamlessly combining top-notch shooting, smooth platforming, clever puzzles, and a playful story into one of the most engaging and satisfying adventures around. Competitive multiplayer is just as compelling, displaying the same fun gameplay elements from the main quest in a chaotic battle against other players. The cooperative mode has its own unique pull, letting players merge their efforts to take down an unrelenting force of angry attackers. The few flaws--touchy cover controls in tight spaces and linear platforming sections--are so slight they barely stand out among the sea of fantastic features. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is an incredible game.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 Hands-On

We got a brand new look at Pro Evo 2010's new features ahead of the soccer sim's impending launch.

Although it has long been a favourite with football fans around the world, Pro Evolution Soccer is caught on the back foot this year. FIFA has made steady progress in recent years by improving its presentation and gameplay while adding a string of new modes. PES has also received several changes over the past few years in the form of the Champions League, as well as the introduction of its own individual player and online multiplayer modes. Despite these changes, the game hasn't improved much since PES 2007, but thanks to a number of major changes in this year's game, PES could finally be back on winning form. We took a look at the game at the PES League European Finals to find out more.

Player likenesses are much improved this year, including realistic-looking facial features.

The first thing that grabbed our attention was how much effort Konami has put into the game engine this year. Players are instantly recognisable, which is a huge improvement on PES 2009, where some players didn't look anything like their real-world counterparts. Not only do the animations look more fluid, but replays and close-ups reveal an impressive amount of detail, with such minute details as arm hair and sweat revealed when viewed closely. Despite improved models, though, characters could do with more animated facial expressions, and they had a tendency to look a little bit dead-eyed in replays.

The more important thing to note about PES 2010 is the gameplay. The game is returning to its simulation roots this year, and from our time with the game, it felt easier to create space and get the ball through poor defensive lines, which should offer more challenge when playing defensively. While we were previously told that Konami was not implementing 360-degree control this year, the developer has done a backflip and taken a leaf out of the FIFA 10 book to add the new analog control scheme. While seasoned fans may opt to stick to the tried-and-tested D pad option, we felt that 360-degree control was marginally more responsive and well worth consideration as a primary control scheme.

Off the pitch, the big feature this year is the implementation of a new tactics system, which lets you adjust attacking and defending strategies on the fly with 100 different levels of control. If your team is one point down in the closing stages of a match, for instance, you may find that maxing out your attacking tactics for one big push could make the difference between a draw and a loss.

We also got to see this year's Champions League mode, although it's unfortunately still missing some team licences, such as Arsenal. Despite qualifying for the competition, the team is again dubbed "North London" this year, and it wasn't playable in the mode. Notwithstanding some glaring omissions, Champions League looks like it will appeal to fans of the competition, which always offers its fair share of surprises.

PES's gameplay feels more free-flowing this year as it returns to its sim roots.

PlayStation 3 Outsells Wii in Japan The PlayStation 3 had an outstanding March in Japan and managed to outsell the Wii by a considerable margin. Make no mistake, the Wii is still the leader in Japan and the rest of the world, but March was a small victory for Sony as a couple of game releases managed to make the PlayStation 3 the more compelling console of the month.

Thanks the Sega Sammy’s “Ryu Ga Gotoku 3” (which will be known in the west as “Yakuza 3”) and Capcom’s “Biohazard 5” (better known as “Resident Evil 5”), according to Reuters, gamers found more reasons to pick up the more expensive PlayStation 3 over the Wii.

It was still just a small battle win for Sony in the much larger console war. VGCharts places PlayStation 3’s Japan sales at just over 3 million sold, while the Wii is nearing 8 million.

In terms of worldwide numbers, the Wii is at 49 million sold, the PS3 at 21.5 million, and the Xbox 360 is in the middle with almost 30 million. The Xbox 360’s numbers are thanks in large part to the 17 million units sold in North America, while in Japan Microsoft’s console has just passed the 1 million mark.

Slackware 13.0 is released!

After one of the most intensive periods of development in Slackware's history, the long awaited stable release of Slackware 13.0 is ready. This release brings with it many major changes since Slackware 12.2, including a completely reworked collection of X packages (a configuration file for X is no longer needed in most cases), major upgrades to the desktop environments (KDE version 4.2.4 and Xfce version 4.6.1), a new .txz package format with much better compression, and other upgrades all around -- to the development system, network services, libraries, and major applications like Firefox and Thunderbird. We think you'll agree that this version of Slackware was worth the wait. Also, this is the first release of Slackware with native support for the 64-bit x86_64 architecture! Major kudos to Eric Hameleers for all of his work, especially on the 64-bit port.

Please consider supporting the Slackware project by picking up a copy of the Slackware 13.0 release from the Slackware Store. Slackware for ARM

Slackware has a new official port for the ARM architecture, by the name of ARMedslack, which has recently released the port of Slackware version 12.2.

ARMedslack began in 2002 by Stuart Winter, with the primary goal of providing a full Slackware port for ARM desktop machines - initially targeting the Acorn StrongARM RiscPC, and later embedded devices.

Slackware ARM now supports native installation using the regular Slackware installer on the ARM Versatile board (via the QEMU emulator) and the recently announced embedded device: the Marvell SheevaPlug.

Slackware ARM version 12.2 is built for armv4, little endian, "legacy" ABI. A new port to the EABI is already underway and expected to be available in "-current" form within a few months.

Slackware64 -current made public!

[tap tap tap]... Is this thing on? ;-)

Ready or not, Slackware has now gone 64-bit with an official x86_64 port being maintained in-sync with the regular x86 -current branch. DVDs will be available for purchase from the Slackware store when Slackware 13.0 is released. Many thanks go out to the Slackware team for their help with this branch and a special thank you to Eric Hameleers who did the real heavy lifting re-compiling everything for this architecture, testing, re-testing, and staying in-sync with -current.

We've been developing and testing Slackware64 for quite a while. Most of the team is already using Slackware64 on their personal machines, and things are working well enough that it is time to let the community check our work.

We'd like to thank the unofficial 64 bit projects for taking up the slack for us for so long so that we could take our time getting everything just right. Without those alternatives, we would have been pressured to get things out before they were really ready.

Slackware 12.2 is released!

Yes folks, 'tis the season to announce a new release of Slackware. With a shiny new kernel, many package updates, and the newly added ability to install from a Samba share, we bring to you the latest in the stable Slackware 12.x series. Slackware 12.2 ships with the 2.6.27.7 Linux kernel, the Xorg 1.4.2 X server (with many driver, library, and application updates), Xfce 4.4.3, KDE 3.5.10, simplified wired and wireless networking with wicd in /extra, package upgrade management with slackpkg moved into the main tree, support for non-usb-storage digital cameras through libgphoto2, pm-utils (tools to support suspend and hibernate through HAL), and much, much more. This release brings the system up-to-date without compromising stability or compatibility with the 12.x series.

KDE4 in -current /testing and other Slackware news

That's right -- KDE version 4.1 is now part of Slackware -current (in the /testing directory), so for everyone who can't wait to try it out, have a look at it! We're all (very happily) using it here now, and it has come a long way since the first 4.x release. Congratulations to the KDE team for the fine work (and many thanks to Robby Workman and Heinz Wiesinger for all the help with build scripts and testing for the initial Slackware packaging of KDE4). Have fun! :-)

Also, we recently commissioned Mark from Senile Felines Designs to create a unique alternate Slackware Logo, as we were getting a number of bug reports that the old logo could not be read easily while standing on one's head. ;-) We think he did a great job with it! If you like the new logo, we are selling shirts, stickers and other products with it at the Official Slackware CafePress Store, and if the design proves to be popular we'll likely have some of these products mass produced for the main Slackware Store. Slackware 12.1 is released!

Well folks, it's that time to announce a new stable Slackware release again. So, without further ado, announcing Slackware version 12.1! Since we've moved to supporting the 2.6 kernel series exclusively (and fine-tuned the system to get the most out of it), we feel that Slackware 12.1 has many improvements over our last release (Slackware 12.0) and is a must-have upgrade for any Slackware user.

Among the many program updates and distribution enhancements, you'll find better support for RAID, LVM, and cryptsetup; a network capable (FTP and HTTP, not only NFS) installer; and two of the most advanced desktop environments available today: Xfce 4.4.2, a fast, lightweight, and visually appealing desktop environment, and KDE 3.5.9, the latest 3.x version of the full-featured K Desktop Environment.

Kali ini bagi yang lagi menimba uang dari ptc, saya ingin berikan panduan gratis tentang tips dan trik cara bermain ptc yang elegan tanpa curang, tanpa hack, tanpa software / program pengclick iklan otomatis yang bisa dikenal dengan nama autosurf. Saya tidak menyarankan hal-hal yang illegal semacam itu, biasakan budaya yang baik dan benar serta halal dalam mencari rezeki, kita mahkluk yang beragama bukan?

Untuk itu, silahkan baca baik-baik panduan lengkap dan gratis tips dan trik bermain aman dan keren ptc di bawah ini, saya berikan beberapa point-point penting saja. Berikut ini tips dan trik bermain ptc.

-Cek dahulu situs yang tidak scam, tentunya sudah ada bukti payout dari beberapa sumber di internet, bila perlu tengok trend Alexa mereka, bagaimana trend grafiknya.

-Gunakan instinct dan instuisi anda untuk menebak / memprediksi web yang kita ingin join bisa dipercaya.

Cara / tips yang paling sederhana adalah dari desain webnya, apakah amburadul atau tidak? Ingat sebuah motto: “Kesan pertama begitu menggoda…”.
Tapi tentunya ini hanya teori saya belaka, tidak menjadi sebuah absolut teori.

-Bermain aman dengan satu akun saja, jangan referensikan saudara serumah, apalagi anda sendiri mendaftar jadi referral akun anda sendiri, jadi anak manis aja .

-Usahakan sebisanya hanya menggunakan sebuah IP saja, cari koneksi yang memberikan IP statik, maksudnya IP yang statis sehingga nantinya kalau pas lagi apesnya, referral atau orang lain yang kebetulan mengunjungi website ptc tsb kebetulan mempunyai IP yang pernah kita pakai pada hari selanjutnya, sama-sama dibanned karena dianggap double account.

-Usahakan kalau main ke warnet, harus mengclear semua cookie dan jangan meninggalkan jejak dibookmark atau Add to Favorit karena untuk menghindari anggapan double account dari pihak penyedia ptc juga.

-Jangan gunakan software autoclick / autosurf, tidak ada jaminan keberhasilannya, sial-sial malah kita bisa dibanned. Mungkin awalnya dibiarin sama pengelola situs, namun ketika pas cashout, kita justru ditendang dari peredaran.

-Untuk cashout, biasanya ada situs yang menaikkan batas minimum payout sehingga membuat kita deg-degan kalau situs tersebut bangkrut, dana hasil jerih payah klik kita sia-sia ludes bersama dengan bangkrutnya situs tsb seperti yang terjadi pada buxout dan thinkbux, untuk mencegah hal itu terjadi, coba baca berapa minimum payout mereka, anggap saja $10, maka kita bisa deposit dahulu kepada mereka mungkin sekitar $8 sehingga ketika kita sudah klik dengan hasil lebih dari $2, yang jika dikalkulasikan akan menjadikan dana kita mencapai batas minimum $10.
Cepat-cepat tarik dana dari sana!

-Jika sebuah situs menunjukkan tanda-tanda aneh, spt halnya forumnya ditutup, memaksa kita untuk upgrade, iklan-iklan yang ditawarkan hanya sebatas upgrade dan rent referral serta pengumuman situs yang bersangkutan, ataupun tiba-tiba akun kita diturunkan harga per kliknya, cabut aja buru-buru, jangan habiskan energi dan bandwith kita.

-Promosikan referral ke forum-forum atau shoutbox dan instant messenger, bahkan melalui social network seperti Twitter dan Facebook, cukup efektif jika anda mempunyai banyak teman.

-Untuk yang ingin berspekulasi dengan menyewa referral, cari website ptc yang “memaksa” membernya untuk mengclick iklan dalam jumlah minimum tertentu setiap hari, hal ini sangat bagus untuk menjaga para referral tetap melek setiap hari tidak berani absen untuk klik iklan.Situs seperti neobux dan beberapa situs lain sudah menerapkan hal ini, boleh dicoba.

-Menutup link referral dengan trik code HTML atau bahkan kalau mungkin, pakai javascript untuk memanipulasi window status bar. Trik ini dipakai karena banyak sekali orang yang tidak rela kalau dirinya menjadi downline seseorang, padahal jelas-jelas mereka tidak akan rugi apapun. Situs ptc sudah mempunyai kalkulasi tersendiri. Jadi please, jadi downline saya ya jika anda ingin menumpahkan rasa terima kasih kepada saya atas tulisan ini.

-Saya sarankan jangan matikan mode gambar dari browser untuk menghemat bandwith karena justru sekarang banyak web ptc yang menerapkan captcha untuk validasi kita tidak menggunakan program autosurf.

Theme Tersembunyi Pada Windows 7 Beta

Bagi Anda yang sudah menginstall Windows 7 Beta, mungkin sudah melihat-lihat atau mengganti theme default yang digunakan. Jika dilihat, pilihan yang tersedia untuk Windows 7 Beta English dengan setting regional Indonesia ada 4 theme yang dapat dipilih yaitu Windows 7, Landscape, Light Auras, dan Nature. Seperti yang telah saya singgung pada tulisan Windows 7 Desktop Screenshot, pilihan theme yang dihadirkan pada Windows 7 Beta disesuaikan dengan versi bahasa dan regional yang dipilih. Meskipun begitu, dengan cara tertentu pilihan theme yang seharusnya hadir untuk Windows 7 Beta regional lain dimungkinkan untuk digunakan.

Berdasarkan tulisan di My Digital Life, cara yang dapat dilakukan agar dapat menggunakan themes lain yang tersembunyi adalah sebagai berikut:

Buka Windows Explorer.
Klik Organize, dan pilih Folder and Search Options.
Klik tab View.
Pilih Show hidden files, folders and drivers dan uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). Pada permintaan konfirmasi yang muncul, klik Yes.
Klik OK.
Kemudian browsing folder berikut::
\Windows\Globalization\MCT\
Pada foloder ini, Anda akan menemui folder dengan MCT-XX (diamna XX adalah AU, CA, GB, US, atau ZA) yang mempresentasikan setting untuk masing-masing regional. Pilihlah salah satu folder ini yang theme-nya akan diaktifkan. Untuk catatan: AU, CA dan ZA mempunyai theme yang sama.
Buka folder Theme pada folder regional yang dipilih.
Double click pada file XX.theme akan mengubah theme yang saat ini digunakan dengan theme regional ini. Sekali digunakan, theme ini akan disimpan sebagai pilihan pada Personalization options, jadi ulangi saja untuk theme regional yang lain. Selanjutnya untuk mengubah dan memilih theme-theme ini cukup dari klik kanan pada desktop dan pilih Personalize.
Selanjutnya kembali ke Folder Options untuk mengembalikan setting folder seperti pada 5 langkah pertama di atas untuk menyembunyikan file yang perlu disembunyikan dan file sistem.

Cara lain yang dapat digunakan adalah dengan modifikasi registry. Copy-paste kode berikut pada text editor misalnya Notepad:

Television reporter Angela Vidal and her cameraman are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew’s videotape.

Three years after being kicked out of the science department for his theory of Time warps, and his attempt on Matt Lauer's life, Rick Marshall is reduced to working as a teacher at the George C. Page Museum until he meets Holly Cantrell whose finding urges him to create a tachyon amplifier to enable time warp travel. They go to the Devils Cave attraction where the finding was found, hiring its tour guide Will Stanton. But once they've activated the tachyon amplifier, losing it in the process, the three end up in a parallel universe where all timelines converge. They soon meet some ape men, Pakuni, two of whom were going to kill the younger one, when Stanton unintentionally gives the other two the secret of fire as they run off. The gang then proceed to help the other one, named Cha-Ka, until he runs off with them in pursuit. Once catching up to Cha-Ka, they are trapped by a tree which turns out to be a dinosaur feeding site, being attacked by a Tyrannosaurus. The T. rex chases them until they come to a small land bridge. Marshall is convinced they are safe as he explains how a T. rex has a walnut-sized brain, and is incapable of judging depth and distance. Hearing this as he stalks away, the T. rex stops in his tracks, turns, and runs full speed to jump across the chasm. Chasing them until they reach a crevice in a cave, it gives up, though still wanting to eat Marshall. Holly, knowing the dinosaur's attitude, gives him the name "Grumpy". Though Marshall didn't believe it to be possible, Grumpy's vendetta becomes more apparent when he leaves a gify, beach-ball sized walnut, gift-wrapped. The next day, Cha-Ka brings fruit full of spiders. Rick pours dinosaur urine all over himself as a way to masks his scent from "Grumpy" he then has visions about a strange creature begging for his help, running out into the Lost City. The others follow as Cha-Ka gets agitated and attempts to tell them they should leave as they are attacked by the slow yet deadly Sleestaks. But when the Pylon opens, Marshall and company enter, meeting the creature who contacted them, Enik. Enik tells them that the evil Zarn is out to control the universe and needs the tachyon amplifier. In spite of Will's feelings, Marshall offers his aid as Cha-Ka takes the group through the jungle and onto a salt flat landscape that is a feeding site for Compsognathus and Velociraptors, who proceed to tear an ice cream man to pieces until Grumpy comes and scares them off. However, a female Allosaurus arrives as well. The two territorial predators prepare to fight when the both of them catch Marshall's urine-drenched scent and chase after him. Though managing to outsmart Grumpy, Marshall runs from "Big Alice", the Allosaurus, until he reaches Holly and Will, using the tank of liquid nitrogen to freeze the Allosaur before she explodes with the tachyon amplifier among her remains. After that, a Pteranodon steals their time machine. Though down in the dumps, Marshall regains his confidence as he attempts to apologize to his friends in song (The theme song to the original TV series) while unknowingly attacked by a giant mosquito. After managing to get the tachyon amplifier back from a nest of pterosaurs, they return to a motel back in the salt flat. While Marshall, Will and Cha-Ka laze in the pool, Holly goes, finding a Pylon. Inside, she finds dinosaur eggs lodged in dinosaur feces, taking one out before she find a holographic message from the Zarn, learning that Enik is the real villain and being taken by a Sleestak to stand trial for aiding him. Meanwhile, after eating a Giant Crab, which killed itself by stepping on a geyser while advancing on them, the three realize Holly's missing and go find her. They meet two mating Sleestaks, that shed their skin, which Marshall and Will use to disguise themselves while Cha-Ka goes to get Enik. Arriving to Holly's aid as she is condemned to death by the Library of Skulls, Marshall and Will learn that Enik was the one who wiped out the Altrusians while confirming Will's feelings about the villain's tunic. After saving Holly, the gang confront Enik and his Sleestak slaves, taking the tachyon amplifier while revealing his plans on using the Sleestaks to overpopulate the worlds. He then leaves Marshall and company to their fate as Grumpy arrives to get his revenge. Seeing no other way, Marshall takes on Grumpy one-on-one, ending with Marshall vaulting into the dinosaur's mouth. Though Holly chides him for it, Grumpy shrugs her off and leaves as she and Will attempt to fight off the numerous Sleestaks. However, after being excreted out while taking out some intestinal trouble, Marshall and a "less grumpy" Grumpy make their peace as they arrive to kill most of the Sleestaks. Entering the Pylon, Marshall and company manage to destroy the crystal shard that powers it, with Will choosing to stay with Cha-Ka in the Land of the Lost while holding Enik off so Marshall and Holly can return home. Will takes advantage of his new life by meeting Cha-Ka's harem which he was told earlier by Cha-Ka that they were ugly only to find them to be very hot Caribbean tanned women wearing only a loincloth. He almost immediately get surrounded by half a dozen women who start rubbing him all over. He responds to this by saying " I made the right choice." Back on Earth, Matt Lauer reluctantly gives a second interview with Marshall this time proven right and proceeds to rub it in Matt Lauer's face by bringing a dinosaur egg back and giving him a signed copy of his new book. But after being forced to show off the title of Marshall's new book, ''Matt Lauer Can Suck It'', history repeats itself with Matt trying to kill Marshall. Soon after the show ended, unaware of what Marshall and she left behind on the set, the dinosaur egg Holly found hatches into a baby Sleestak.

In Pasadena, California in 1969, a young Mexican couple rushes to the home of medium Shaun San Dena (Flor de Maria Chahua). Their son had stolen jewelry from a group of Gypsies three days prior, and since then, has been complaining of seeing and hearing things not of this earth. San Dena tries to help the boy in a seance, but she and the boy's parents can only watch in horror as the boy is thrown from the balcony by an unseen force before being pulled into Hell by demonic hands.

Forty years later, Christine Brown (Alison Lohman), a loan officer at a local bank, hopes to be promoted to assistant manager over her conniving co-worker, Stu Rubin (Reggie Lee (actor)|Reggie Lee). Christine's boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), advises her that she needs to demonstrate that she can make tough decisions when she needs to. That day, Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver), an elderly gypsy woman, asks for a third extension on her mortgage because she is struggling with economic problems due to an illness. To prove herself to Mr. Jacks, Christine, against her better judgment, denies Mrs. Ganush the extension. In desperation, Mrs. Ganush prostrates herself before Christine, begging and kissing the hem of her skirt. Christine panics and shoves the woman away, shaming her in public. As security guards escort Mrs. Ganush out, Mr. Jacks compliments Christine on how she handled the situation and implies that if she can close another big loan, the assistant manager position will be hers.

That night Christine is attacked in her car by Mrs. Ganush. After a violent struggle, Mrs. Ganush removes a button from Christine's jacket and uses it to place a curse on her. Mrs. Ganush disappears, leaving the cursed button with Christine. Later, Christine's boyfriend, college professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long), takes her to a coffee shop to comfort her. On the way home, they pass a fortune teller's store, and Christine insists they go in. There, they meet the fortune teller Rham Jas (Dileep Rao), who tells Christine that she has a dark spirit upon her.

Alone at home, Christine is attacked by the dark spirit, which appears as the silhouette of a goat's head. The spirit breaks some windows, cuts the power, and throws Christine across the room, causing minor injuries. Clay assumes that Mrs. Ganush followed them and attacked Christine again. However, when she insists that no one attacked her, they contact a psychologist. The psychologist says that victims of assault often relive past trauma, which seems to settle Christine. That night, Christine dreams that Mrs. Ganush attacks her in bed, and at work the next day, she has a violent nosebleed. Fleeing work, she tries to track down Mrs. Ganush at her granddaughter's home. There Christine learns that Mrs. Ganush died the previous night, and her granddaughter is in the process of holding a wake for her. Christine makes a scene by accidentally knocking over Mrs. Ganush's body, and her granddaughter tells her that she deserves what is coming for her.

Christine consults Rham Jas again, who tells her that the spirit haunting her is actually a demon called the Lamia, and that she is to be tormented by it for three days before being dragged to Hell to burn for eternity. Horrified by this revelation, Christine sacrifices her pet kitten in hopes that it will satisfy the Lamia. When the Lamia torments her during dinner with Clay's parents, Christine and Clay decide to pay $10,000 to enlist the help of the now elderly Shaun San Dena (Adriana Barraza). San Dena prepares a seance, the goal of which is to trap the Lamia in a live goat and kill it, which will destroy the Lamia. This plan backfires, however, when the Lamia assaults everyone in the room. San Dena manages to banish the Lamia from the seance, but dies in the process.

Rham Jas tells Christine that the Lamia will still return for her in just one more day unless she can find a way to stop it for good. He then tells her the only way to get rid of the curse is to give the cursed item to someone else as a gift, thereby cursing him or her. Christine seals the button from her jacket in an envelope and considers giving it to Stu, since his actions cheated them both out of the promotion, but she can't bring herself to condemn someone else to Hell. She then decides to give the button to Mrs. Ganush. Rham Jas confirms the plan will work, damning the Gypsy woman's soul to Hell. Christine drives to the graveyard and digs up Mrs. Ganush's grave. In a torrential rainstorm, Christine jams the envelope in the old woman's mouth and leaves believing she has beaten the curse.

Christine meets Clay at Los Angeles Union Station, who is preparing to propose to her in marriage; they have plans to spend a relaxing weekend in Santa Barbara. Clay gives her the envelope with the button in it. She had dropped it in his car the night before and accidentally picked up a similar one, which contained a rare coin she was planning to give to Clay. Horrified, Christine falls onto the tracks as a train barrels into the station. Just before she is struck, the ground beneath her opens and demonic arms pull her down into Hell. As the train roars through, Clay can only watch, frozen in terror as his girlfriend disappears under the stoned track. Tearful for the horrific sight that he has just witnessed, he has a brief glance at the button he is still holding in his hand before returning his attention back to the spot where Christine was dragged to her death, glancing down in horror.

Plot

Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is the executive editor-in-chief of a book publishing company, Colden Books. All of her workers, including her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds), hate her. After learning she is being deported back to Canada, she forces Andrew to marry her, as his future is tied to hers. When the government investigates, Mr. Gilbertson (Denis O'Hare) informs them that they will undergo rigorous testing to prove that the marriage is not fraudulent, after being notified by Bob Spaulding that this marriage might be a sham. Andrew grudgingly accepts the proposition of marrying Margaret on the condition that he be promoted to the position of editor and his manuscript be published.

Cast

Sandra Bullock as Margaret Tate, a socially inept Chief Editor at her major New York City trade book company. However, she is a Canadian-born Canadian citizen. To avoid being deported to Canada for a year because of a visa transgression, she comes up with an idea on the spot of marrying her American assistant, Andrew Paxton. She cannot swim and is an orphan, her parents having died in a car accident when she was sixteen.
Ryan Reynolds as Andrew Paxton, the good-hearted assistant to Margaret who wishes to be promoted to editor and have his chosen manuscript published. He agrees to the fake marriage on the terms that those two conditions are met. It is later revealed his family is rich (seemingly owning the entire town), but Andrew himself is estranged from his father, who wishes he would take over the family business, and due to work he has not been home for three years.
Malin Akerman as Gertrude (Gert), Andrew's ex-girlfriend from college. She and Andrew dated through college, but when he asked her to elope with him in New York, Gert refused because of her life in Alaska, as she tells Margaret. She and Andrew clearly still have feelings for each other.
Mary Steenburgen as Grace Paxton, Andrew's mother, who accepts Margaret immediately, taking her on a girls' night out, giving breakfast in bed, and making her feel welcome. She also does not like Andrew and Joe fighting, and commands her husband to set things right, which Andrew and Margaret both overhear part of. She and the others convince Andrew to go after Margaret when she confesses the sham.
Craig T. Nelson as Joe Paxton, Andrew's father who owns the family business that dominates the entire town of Sitka. He wants his son to run the family business when he retires and eventually die, but Andrew wants to be a book editor. Joe brings Mr. Gilbertson in after suspecting the marriage is a sham. He and his son reconcile after Gammy has a heart attack and he realizes that Andrew truly loves Margaret.
Betty White as Grandma Annie (Gammy), Andrew's grandmother, who turns ninety while Andrew and Margaret are visiting Alaska. She takes an immediate liking to Margaret, convincing her to open up and be comfortable with Andrew's family. Gammy disapproves of Joe and Andrew fighting, and forces them to reconcile after faking a heart attack after Margaret leaves the ceremony, she then convinces Andrew to go after Margaret.
Denis O'Hare as Mr. Gilbertson, the immigration agent investigating Margaret's case. He believes the marriage is a fake and takes great pleasure in the revelation that it is.
Oscar Nunez as Ramon, an omnipresent citizen of the Alaska town who holds many jobs. He is seen as a waiter, male stripper, a shopkeeper, and even as a minister. In the end it is suggested he is an illegal immigrant.
Aasif Mandvi as Bob Spaulding, a senior editor at the book company before Margaret fired him early in the film for not getting an author known as Frank the Oprah spot. He insults her after she leaves his office. He told the INS that the marriage was a fake, as he would have gotten his job back if Tate was deported.

The Konami Code

The Konami Code, known in Japan as the Konami Command (コナミコマンド, Konami Komando^?), is a cheat code that appears in many Konami video games, ^[1] although the code also appears in some non-Konami games.^[2] The code was first used in the 1986 release of Gradius for the Nintendo Entertainment System ^[3] but was made famous in North America in the NES version of Contra, for which it was also dubbed the "30 Lives Code". While pausing the game or during the title screen, the player could press the following sequence of buttons on the game controller:

The code was subsequently re-used in a large number of other games, and has found a place in popular culture as a reference to the third generation of video game consoles. It is also the only standard way to put a Palm webOS device (such as the Palm Pre or Palm Pixi) into developer mode.

Variations

The original version of the cheat code was designed for the NES controller. In many popular representations of the code, Start is added at the end of the sequence. Select is also sometimes inserted at the end of the code. The exact sequence varies from game to game, and has been adapted to fit the button layouts of different video game consoles. In mobile phone games by Konami, B A are substituted with 5 7 3 on the numerical pad, which is the goroawase pronunciation for "konami."

Also, if one were to enter it on Facebook, followed by enter, it creates a sparkle graphic whenever you do anything. To remove it, simply navigate away from the page,and when you come back it will be gone.

History

The Konami Code was created by Kazuhisa Hashimoto, who was developing the home port of the 1985 arcade game Gradius, a scrolling shooter released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. Finding the game too difficult to play through during testing, he created a cheat code which gives the player a full set of power-ups, which are normally attained gradually throughout the game.^[2] The code has continued to be present in Gradius sequels and spin-offs, including the SNES version of Gradius III, which actually destroys the player's ship upon entering the original code (however, substituting ← and → with the L and R triggers of the SNES controller powers up the ship), all the way through the most recent iteration of the series, Gradius V on the PlayStation 2, where the PS2's ✖ and ● buttons fill in for B and A, respectively.

The Konami code was introduced to many gamers in the 1988 NES version of Contra. Due to the game's difficulty, many Contra players became reliant on the cheat code, which increased the player's lives from 3 to 30 (9 to 90 including continues), to finish the game. The game's popularity made it renowned to an entire generation of video game players. This led to the code being used in many games and mentioned across popular culture.^[4]^[5]^[6]
